The Musical Theatre Lab
Musical Theatre Lab
"The amount I learned each year was incredible, and I owe a lot of my growth as a person to the Lab. The friends you make, the connections you make, they are really special. Each year was something new and unexpected, and that’s what I loved about it. It kept you on your toes!"
Artistic Directors: Elizabeth Parkinson & Scott Wise
Who We Are
The Musical Theatre Lab in residence at the Vineyard Arts Project is structured on the belief that studying with musical theatre professionals who are actively working in their field is an effective and inspiring way to learn and refine oneʼs craft. At Vineyard Arts Projectʼs state of the art facilities in Marthaʼs Vineyard , students are immersed in acting, singing, dancing, and audition preparation. Our goal is to support young performers by giving them the strong mental, emotional, and physical ground work they need to propel them into a healthy career in the performing arts. Selection of the 28 students, ages 14-20, for this intimate and elite setting is through an application and audition. An acting-centric program The Musical Theatre Lab looks for students with character, intention, and a strong commitment to their artistry and craft.
Musical Theatre Laboratory alumni have gone on to study acting and musical theatre at some of the nation’s top colleges and universities including but not limited to: Carnegie Mellon University, University of Michigan, Emerson College, New York University, Northwestern University, Boston Conservatory, Syracuse University, Western Connecticut State University, and Vassar College. Some alumni are appearing now in Broadway shows including West Side Story, Book of Mormon and Newsies!
This year our program will run from July 29th - August 11th. On August 11th at noon, an informal showing will be held for friends, family, casting agents, and talent agents.
